My Stargate Poster

Inspired by my husband's Borderlands Poster, I got a few posters of my own to get autographs on. My only successful one that I actually have gotten autographs on so far is my Stargate Poster. Stargate has been one of my favorite shows, and so I just had to find the perfect poster for my autographs. I am (of course) keeping a spreadsheet for this one, as well, and will post it below for what I have so far.

Stargate has been a big part of my life, ever since the movie came out when I was in high school. I had never seen any advertisements for it at all. A friend of mine recommended it, so when I saw it at our video store, I grabbed it. Let me tell you, I was just stunned. I absolutely loved the entire thing. It sparked a love of Ancient Egypt in me, and I watched that movie over and over.

Then, the show came out. I was a little hesitant about the show at first. It was still trying to establish itself while still trying to stay true to the spirit of the movie. For me, it took a while for me to finally correlate the two in my mind, but now I love them both. I would watch this show as often as I could. Unfortunately for me, I didn't have a way to record it when it was on, and being a college student, my hours were all over the place, so I didn't really watch this show for a long while. When I finally was able to stabilize my schedule, and once it was on sci-fi rather than Showtime (I was a poor college student that couldn't afford it anyway) I was finally able to watch it. I tried to watch every week. Eventually, I bought entire seasons and ultimately got the entire show on DVD.

One of my favorite memories are the times when my mom and I lived several hours away from each other, and we would call each other on the phone. She would watch re-runs on SciFi, and I would watch along on the DVD, pausing when we get to commercials (I couldn't afford cable at that time, again: poor college student). It wasn't perfect, but we had so much fun just talking and watching Stargate together. I miss her.

When Atlantis came out, I was excited. I was so happy that it was popular enough to get a spinoff. I loved the crossover episodes, as well. I wasn't too thrilled with the wraith part, but I supposed they needed to write a good enough overall villain for things. As it does, it grew on me, though, and I still love Atlantis.

Next, I was extremely excited for Universe. I loved Universe from the very beginning! I was very upset when they just ended the show after only 2 seasons, and left us on a cliffhanger. It at least deserved a movie at the end to tie up the loose ends.

I own all seasons of all 3 series, and when I went looking for a poster, I wanted to get something that encompassed all 3 shows. I supposed just a simple design with just a stargate would have worked, but each show's stargates are different, so that wouldn't have worked. I came across the one I did end up getting online. It. Was. Perfect. It has all three series depicted, along with the main characters in each show, as well. I loved it so much, and I bought it in the largest size that I could. I don't have a good picture of it from before I got the autographs, but here it is with what I have so far (9 autographs).
